Nanotechnology is the term given to those areas of science and engineering where cautions that take place at confines in the nanometre scale are utilised in the design, characterisation, production and application of accoutrements, structures, devices and systems. Nanomaterials can be defined as materials holding, at minimum, one external dimension measuring 1-100nm. The description given by the European Commission states that the flyspeck size of at least half of the patches in the number size distribution must measure 100nm or below.
